Small cells including femtocells, enterprise femtocells and picocells, are essential for seamless coverage and capacity as data usage continues to increase for phone calls. Small cells are necessary in the current 3G networks, but become even more crucial in the 4G/LTE networks due to the unique wide-band nature of LTE.
